FAQs

001.Do we need a permit to elope in Glacier NP?

Yes — any wedding or elopement ceremony inside Glacier National Park requires a Special Use Permit from the National Park Service, even if it's just the two of you. There's a $125 application fee, and you'll want to apply at least 10 weeks before your date.

Each designated ceremony location has its own guest limit (most are capped around 12 people), and a few are more restrictive. I can walk you through the application and help you pick a location that fits your day — this is one of the biggest reasons couples work with me.

002.Where are the best places to elope in Glacier?

My favorites depend on what you're after:

Logan Pass — the dramatic alpine choice. Wildflower meadows in July, stark tundra in shoulder season.

Lake McDonald & Apgar — the calm, water-reflecting choice. Easy access, gorgeous year-round.

Two Medicine — quiet and underrated. Fewer crowds, big mountain light.

Many Glacier — the storybook choice. Towering peaks, glacial lakes, the classic Glacier postcard.

Bowman Lake / Polebridge — for the adventurous. Unpaved access, the most solitude.

003.When is the best time of year to elope in Glacier?

Late June through mid-September is peak access — Going-to-the-Sun Road is fully open, wildflowers peak in July, and the high alpine is reachable.

Shoulder seasons (mid-September to early October, late May to mid-June) are my personal favorites: fewer crowds, cooler light, sometimes early snow dusting the peaks.

Winter elopements (November through April) are stunning for couples who want snow and solitude — Apgar, Lake McDonald, and Polebridge stay accessible, and the light is unreal.

Summer weekends book up 12+ months out, so if you're eyeing a peak date, reach out early.

004.What's included in your elopement coverage?

Elopement packages include a planning consultation, location + permit guidance, timeline support, on-the-day coverage, a sneak-peek gallery within a few days, and the full edited gallery within 6 weeks — delivered through a private online gallery you can share with family. Print release included.

Longer packages add travel time for multi-location days or backcountry hikes. I'll send a full pricing guide once we connect.

005.How much does a Glacier elopement cost?

Beyond photography, a Glacier National Park elopement usually involves:

Special Use Permit — $125, paid to the National Park Service.
Officiant — typically $300–$500 in the Flathead Valley.
Florals, hair & makeup — varies, but plan $400+ each.
Park entrance & lodging — a few days in West Glacier or Apgar.

My own elopement photography packages run from half-day coverage through full two-day experiences, with pricing that matches the day you're planning. Full pricing guide goes out after our first call.

006.Can you help us find an officiant or vendors?

Yes — and I'd genuinely love to. After years of shooting elopements in Glacier, I've built a short list of officiants, florists, hair and makeup artists, and planners I trust fully. Montana vendor community is small, and every recommendation is someone I'd happily work alongside.

Personalized vendor recommendations are part of every elopement package.

007.How far do you travel in Glacier NP?

Travel fees inside Glacier National Park:

Apgar, Belton, Lake McDonald — $100
Polebridge, Bowman, Kintla — $200
Logan Pass, Big Bend, Sunpoint — $200
Two Medicine — $300
St. Mary — $400
Many Glacier — $500

Out-of-state and international destination trips are quoted per project.

008.Are you LGBTQ+ inclusive?

Yes — fully, openly, and proudly. I'm a gay man myself, and LGBTQ+ couples aren't just welcomed, they're part of what makes this work feel like mine. You'll never need to explain or qualify anything here.

009.What happens if it rains or snows on our elopement day?

Montana mountain weather is part of the story. Some of my favorite Glacier elopement galleries come from cloudy, moody, or unexpectedly snowy days — fog rolling through the passes, rain on a porch, snow on a dress.

If conditions are genuinely unsafe at a higher-elevation spot, we adjust together to a lower-elevation backup.

010.How do we book our Glacier elopement?

Send the form above, we'll hop on a quick call, and I'll share a full pricing guide. Once you're ready, I send a contract and collect a 30% retainer to lock your date.

The remainder is due two weeks before the day — longer timelines can be split into monthly payments.
